The Unity Movement is founded on prayer. In prayer, we become conscious of God’s presence in our life and then relate to that loving presence. Through our prayers, we develop a relationship with God and, in turn, find an increased sense of peace, love and gratitude. Prayer can be the pathway to needed insight, understanding and guidance for our human and spiritual concerns.
At Unity we have many ways to support you, through prayer and services. How can we support you …
What is prayer?
Prayer is communion with God. The Unity approach to prayer is affirmative, based on positive prayers and affirmations that have universal, interfaith appeal. We have prayers available to help you along your spiritual journey.
It is our blessing to pray with you. Be assured that all requests are treated with reverence and confidentiality.
Sunday Services
Prayer is a vibrant part of the personal, spiritual journey that can be enhanced as people come together to pray. After each service there is a chaplain and/or lay minister available to pray with you.
Prayer Box
There is a prayer box in the lobby if you would like us to pray for you. The Pastoral Care Team prays daily for everyone who has filled out a Prayer Request form. Those forms are then sent at the end of each month to Silent Unity where they are held in prayer for 30 days.
On-line Prayer Request
E-mails received from this form are forwarded to the appropriate Lay Ministry contact and Silent Unity where they are held in prayer for 30 days.
Silent Unity
Silent Unity is part of a worldwide prayer support system and is available 24/7 to offer you free confidential prayer support whenever you want it. You may call 1-800-NOW-PRAY (1-800-669-7729); or write to Silent Unity, 1901 NW Blue Parkway, Unity Village, MO 64065, or go to www.unity.org and select Prayer to share on online prayer request.
Unity Chaplains
We are proud and excited to have Unity Chaplains available to serve our members. Chaplains are dedicated individuals who hold a spiritual space, are loving listeners, hold in confidence what they hear, and are available to pray with you. If you are a member and would like a prayer chaplain, please call Rev. Charli Tupper in the church office. Your chaplain will call you once a month to pray with you, and will hold you in sacred space between calls.
Pastoral Care Team
The mission of the Pastoral Care Team is to serve the ministers, the Unity Church Family, and the community with prayer and a loving heart and Spirit.
Sacred Healing Meditation
After the Wednesday Night Healing Prayer Service, come downstairs and treat yourself to a healing session with one of our trained facilitators. This a touch or near-touch healing treatment developed by Unity minister, Rev. Scott Sherman. Please sign up on the Volunteer Bulletin Board in the lobby.
Spiritual Counseling
Spiritual counseling is designed as short-term support and to assist you in finding God in the midst of life events, and to prayerfully support you during life changes. It is designed to inspire and awaken you to all possibilities of spiritual growth in your life. Spiritual counseling is not therapy. If we feel you can be served by a therapist, social worker, psychologist, or other professional, we will provide you with a list of possible counselors.
Rev. Tom and Rev. Charli give you unconditional love and empower you to connect with your own divine guidance. You may speak with them about relationships, prosperity, health, substance abuse, family or career issues, spiritual growth … or anything of concern to you, in complete confidentiality. We want to help you focus on the solution as you build your conscious awareness of God’s presence, power and activity in your life. You can call the church office and ask to speak to Rev. Tom or Rev. Charli.
A Walking Meditation
The power of walking the path of the labyrinth is in its simplicity. The labyrinth presents an orderly path to quiet the mind, and as the body moves into a peaceful rhythm of walking, one becomes more closely in tune with God. Step-by-step, one becomes more receptive to insight and illumination. Walking the labyrinth is not something to learn or memorize, but something to experience. It is a walking meditation, a devotional act of worship, and a sacred celebration of life. There is no right or wrong way to walk the labyrinth, just as there is no right or wrong way to pray. Walking the path is a personal experience, an opportunity for a “closer walk with God.”
M.O.M. and T.L.C.
Did you know there are two teams available to serve our Unity community when there’s a need for an occasional meal or transportation to church & errands? M.O.M. (Ministry of Meals) and T.L.C. (Transportation, Love and Care) are two facets of our pastoral care program. If you or someone you know would benefit from either of these services or if you would like to be a team member, give Genna Herron a call at 928-925-7740.
Weddings, Christenings, Memorial Services, Home Blessings and more …
All are among the ways we can support you in your desire to recognize and celebrate the spiritual dimensions of the passages in your life and the lives of your loved ones.
Unity World Day of Prayer
Since its inception 18 years ago, this sacred initiative has supported more than 15 million people with prayer. You can participate by submitting the names of those people you would like us to bless during the 24-hour prayer vigil. We also invite you to experience the dynamic flow of open minds and hearts by joining us in prayer on September 8. Affirm throughout the day: We are channels through which Spirit illumines the world. You may also attend or watch a live-streamed event at Unity Village or find a participating Unity center near you. For more information, visit their website.
