Unity Survey

Response to Unity of Prescott Survey

We want to thank all of you who participated in the congregational survey. The feedback that we got was very favorable in general and we have looked at each of the suggestions that were made. We would like to share with you the results of some of your suggestions:

1. We are always looking to improve our music; thanks for your suggestions.

2. We have established a facebook page. We welcome your postings.

3. All our classes and most events are offered on a love offering (or suggested love offering) basis, that means that there is no financial requirement for you to attend. Where it is necessary to have a set fee, we usually have scholarships available. It is our hope that no one is excluded for financial reasons.

4. In response to a request, we canvassed parents and teachers and found unanimous support for moving the children’s program to the second service. We plan to make the switch on September 4th. We understand that some of you will miss seeing the children at the first service, but this move seems to best serve our families.

5. We generally do put the names of Sunday volunteers for fellowship, flowers, music, prayer support, ambassadors and ushers in the Highlights or on the pre-service slides; we have chosen not to announce all those names because of time considerations.

6. The Board is looking at ways to be of service to the wider Prescott community and also to let people know what we are currently doing. Our recent adoption of Acker Creek is a good example of what is possible. If you have suggestions about a specific program you would like to see us participate in, please write it up and submit it to the Board.

7. We now announce the amount of our tithe and where it is going on a quarterly basis in church. The Board is committed to the church’s tithing and we do tithe 10% of all church income. We realize that it is important to provide better information on the church’s tithe.

8. We would welcome more activities for singles. It generally takes a single person to make it happen. This is a ministry opportunity for someone in the congregation.

9. We think that it is a good idea to offer new member orientation at alternative times. We offer daytime options to those whose schedule does not allow them to attend two consecutive Thursday nights. If anyone finds the evening meetings a challenge, please talk to the church office.

10. Our sanctuary sound system is generally good, but it has some shortcomings; one is that if we raise volume too high we get feedback (a high frequency ringing or screeching).

We have a technical committee that is looking at solutions. Note that we do have hearing assist devices available at the sound booth. We have improved the sound on our website recording of the Sunday lesson.

Thanks for your input. Please remember that you don’t have to wait for the next survey to let us know how we are doing and what we could do better. It is often volunteers who come up with ideas and make them happen so if you have something you would like to create, write us a proposal.

Blessings,
Your Board of Trustees
